Mass Offerings

Whenever a priest celebrates the Mass, he does so with an 'intention' in mind: ordinarily a person or a particular cause. Often he comes to the altar with an intention of his own, but it is more common that he offers up the intentions of people who request them.

On this page you can request a Mass for your intentions.

Ordinarily, people requesting a Mass pay a small "stipend" to the priest who offers the Mass for them, the amount is entirely voluntary but the standard offering is £10.

For whom can Mass be offered?

The Living

Masses can be offered for living people: to pray for their growth in Faith, Hope, and Charity, and for other spiritual benefits.

The Dead

Mass can be offered for a friend or relative who has died, or for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, that they be admitted into the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Holy Father

Mass can be especially offered for the Holy Father (the Pope) for an increase in the gifts of Faith, Hope, and Charity, and for the work of his ministry.

A Cause or Intention

You can ask for Mass for a particular cause or intention (e.g. "Peace in the Holy Land", or "Vocations to the Priesthood") and entrust it to God's providence.
